I incorporate an integrative approach to therapy, combining interventions which are evidence and research based. Because the therapeutic relationship is one of equality and works best when a true partnership is established, interventions I offer will depend on client preferences, ability, stage of change and comfort level. My approach includes but is not limited the following:
Whether you have sought counseling in the past or are brand new to the process, each of us brings a unique perspective to how we feel about asking a professional for help. There's no real cut and dry answer to when it's time to seek counseling for you or a loved one. Counseling can be effective to keep life on track when things are going well. It can also be effective when things are not going so well. You don't have to be in a crisis to benefit from counseling.
Counseling can do a lot of wonderful things. It can help us grow, change and develop a deeper sense of self. It can assist in fostering healing in relationships and guide us towards ways in which we can reinvent ourselves. It can help us develop skills, build confidence to take risks and support opportunities to soothe our hearts and minds. Counseling can provide insight and acceptance towards ourselves, others or situations. Shortly, it can change lives.
But if I'm being honest and transparent, there are some things as a counselor I can't do. I can't tell you counseling will always fix the problem. It won't give you all the answers and in fact, engaging in the process may even create more questions. It often won't be easy and sometimes it gets worse before it gets better. And with most things, you'll get out of it what you put into it.
What I can say is that if you're reading this, you likely have that little tug in your gut that's telling you it's time to do something about "it". One of my own counselors told me many years ago that while we are often broken in relationships, we also heal within them. My hope for each of my clients, whether young or experienced in life, is that in our working relationship together, you will find safety, security, and a place void of judgment, full of acceptance and a never-compromising commitment that I will do my very best to serve you well. We will figure this out TOGETHER.
As Mother Theresa said, "We can do small things, with great love, and together we can do something wonderful".
I'm here for you and I look forward to welcoming you to Better Together Therapies.
If you are unsure what modality or approach would be best for you, I would be happy to schedule a free 15 minute consultation to discuss your needs.
