While our work together will be about you and your journey, I recognize it’s important to feel comfortable and safe with someone before you share important aspects of your own life. Because of this, I’d like to introduce myself so you can get to know me a bit better.
I consider myself a fellow sojourner, a listener, a learner. I am someone who knows what it’s like to trudge through tough stuff in life and I use my own experiences to meet my clients with sincere empathy, genuineness and admiration. I consider it a sacred space to sit with someone in the depths of despair, and just as much of an honor to share in the triumphs and joys life can also offer.
Professionally, I am a licensed professional counselor candidate (LPCC) and a board-certified music therapist (MT-BC) who feels honored to have had the opportunity to serve kids, teens and adults in clinical, educational and in-home settings for over 19 years. I hold a masters degree in special education (M.Ed) and a masters degree (MA) in clinical mental health counseling, both of which I earned at the University of Northern Colorado.
With all that being said, you may be asking how my background can impact your future!? Well, being real within the therapeutic relationship is by far the foundation of my work with clients. I take a very relational approach with those who walk through my doors, so you can expect me to be honest, authentic, humble and vulnerable.
My hope is that through our work together, you will experience a combination of calming comfort and creative energy, knowing that I put my all into each individual who trusts me with their story. My goal is to offer quality, individualized care, taking into consideration ways to adapt to the needs, abilities, preferences and interests of my clients.
I LOVE providing as safe space for individuals, siblings and families within the special needs community to share their experiences, joys, successes and challenges that sometimes come with being or loving someone with diverse abilities.
In my free time, as a Colorado native, I enjoy fly fishing, riding horses, hiking, fostering homeless dogs and spending time with my spouse, three children, three bearded dragons, and FIVE---yes FIVE dogs.
I look forward to an opportunity to connect so that I can hear more about YOU!
