EDUCATIONAL CONSULTING

Educational consulting, simply put, is a service which can help educate, support and advise parents or guardians of struggling students.

• If you are the parent or guardian of a school aged child (5-21 years).
• If your child is struggling academically, socially, emotionally, behaviorally or in other areas.
• If your child’s school is suggesting an evaluation, your child already has an Individualized Education Plan, Behavior Plan, 504 or other formal plan and are you confused about beginning or moving further in this process.
• If you are overwhelmed with all of the jargon, legalese, processes and laws that come along with these formal plans.
• If you are unsure of what questions to even ask school staff.
• If you are confused about your options or you are at a loss with how to advocate for your child.
• If you feel an objective source could help you gain perspective and offer solutions regarding your child’s current school struggles.
• Any other reason you find yourself needing help to support your child within a school setting.

The idea behind educational consulting is that I help YOU help your child.  During the consultation process, I will:

• Listen deeply and attentively to your present concerns so that I can fully understand not just the logistical components of your child's unique situation, but also offer empathy and emotional support. When our children struggle, we as parents/guardians may also struggle! 
• Help you better understand the difference between an IEP and 504, and offer suggestions as to which may be a better fit for your child.
• Walk you through the school evaluation process step-by-step.
• Discuss old and brainstorm new goals or accommodations which may benefit your child in the learning environment.
• Address ways for how to effectively communicate with your child’s service providers and team.
• Help you navigate laws, regulations and your rights as a parent/guardian.
